W2SB #9: To Every Thing There Is a Season

Hi, everyone.

As the calendar page turns to September, our thoughts turn to the words To Every Thing There Is a Season.

So, what do these words mean to you? Maybe your thoughts turn to autumn leaves... or football Saturdays... or homework and school activities... or the they're-going-to-be-here-before-you-know-it upcoming holiday season. Or, perhaps milestone events come to mind -- events like starting a new job, celebrating the birth of a baby, or moving to a new house.

This month, we welcome Guest I-Teamer Sharyn, who wowed us in July with her bicycle-riding poodle. Let's see what Sharyn and our I-Teamers have for us this month.

Sharyn's card is just lovely. Her image, colors, and text combine to create such a peaceful interpretation of our seasons theme. Sharon, we are thrilled that you joined us this month.

Penny has created another masterpiece with her stunning focal point. And, her sentiment is perfect for this month's theme.

Annie's card is just gorgeous. Those richly colored leaves are placed just right to give the feel of leaves falling to the ground... and lead our eyes to a perfect seasonal sentiment.

While I just love the color choices Mary Anne made, I simply adore the banner hanging down from that pretty wreath. Mary Anne doesn't have a  blog, so feel free to leave a comment for her here.

Bobbi continued the fall theme with her card featuring four different embossing powders, and pretty layering. Love the classic look she achieved with those embossing powders!

But, from the look of things, Bernadette can't wait for the upcoming Christmas season. I just love the richness of these colors and the way she inset her sentiment panel.  :)

Bernadette

As for my card, I took a totally different take on a four-season theme to make a Stampin'-Up!-inspired thank you card for our very own Bernadette. Bernadette has been the SU demonstrator of our little card-making group. Our bittersweet news last class was that she is moving back to Colorado. Bernadette is thrilled to be moving back to be with family, but we are going to miss her terribly.

The Prize Package

In addition to a  Guest I-Teamer invitation for November and our W2SB badge, this month's winning crafter will receive a FABULOUS prize: an autographed Tim Holtz assemblage clock, like the one shown at the right. But, unlike the clock shown, ours was autographed for us by Tim at the Simon Says Stamps CREATE event in May!

What a fun object to keep, fill, display, and treasure -- or give as a special gift to a loved one who is a self-proclaimed Tim groupie. :)

So, we hope you all will be able to join us for this month's W2SB challenge.

W2SB Challenge #8: From Darkness to Light - Winner!!!

There were some great cards for this challenge.  Sybrina and I really enjoyed seeing all of the interpretations.  It was a tough call for us this month, but we just couldn't resist Erika's interpretation of our challenge paired with her take on a Kristina Werner card.

Erika's Darkness to Light

Erika's card kind of reminds me of how the big bang might have looked.  (Plus, The Big Bang Theory is my all time favorite TV show!!!)  The inking on this card is fabulous, and I love the contrast between the black and yellow.  That combination is tough to pull off without looking like a bumble bee.

Sybrina is our hostess for the September challenge, and has a FABULOUS prize - a SIGNED Tim Holtz goodie!  Boo, I can't enter....

Erika, please send your snail mail address to BobbisTreasure at aol dot com, so I can mail your prize!!  Plus, we hope that you will be our guest designer for October.  Congratulations, Erika!!!

W2SB Challenge #8: From Darkness to Light

EEK!  I thought that summer just started, and here it is back to school time already!!!  Both of your W2SB hostesses are professionals in education and training.  Sybrina is a former high school math who now works on educational publications. I work in training, and substitute teach in our local schools.

So, the words of Allan Bloom are a perfect choice for this month's inspiration: "Education is the movement from darkness to light."

I love all the directions you can go with these words: light to dark, evoking the ombre technique; contrast; the Sun; a light bulb, etc.  Let's see what our I-Team came up with for you!!

Kate from Katos Crafty Creations is our guest I-Teamer this month.  Don't you love how she highlighted the image with her die cut?!?

Penny made a great card for a teenager.  The "random" pink bling is perfectly placed!

Beautiful color wash, Sybrina!

Ann's card has me singing ZZTop!

Bernadette wanted to show her support for the teachers in her kids' school district as the 2014-2015 school year begins. Love that fabulous ribbon treatment!

And here is my contribution, featuring paint chips arranged in an ombre pattern.
